Lone Pine Memorial Print Page 
The Lone Pine Memorial consists of a dedication pedestal with a pathway leading to a memorial circle which consists of seven pedestals.
Each pedestal has a plaque dedicated to seven soldiers of the 1st Australian Infantry Division who were each awarded the Victoria Cross for their actions at Gallipoli between the 7th and 9th August 1915 at Gallipoli. There was originally seven pines planted at the memorial site but these have not survived and a single pine has been planted.

At 5.30pm on 6 August 1915 the Battle of Lone Pine began
The battle is named after the single tree which stood on the hill top occupied by the Turkish troops
2,000 Australians and over 7,000 Turkish soldiers lost their lives.
Seven men of the 1st Australian Infantry Division were awarded the Victoria Cross
