The courtyard commemorates those who served in World War One. The courtyard contains a display featuring historical articles and honours rolls of the local churches.

The special assembly unveiled the new ANZAC Memorial commemorating the lives of those who served in the First World War and came from these local, historical Anglican and Uniting Churches. A representative from each of these churches read the Roll of Honour of the members who served in the First World War from their congregations. Students performed a special song written by Pedare staff in memory of the Harper brothers. Other students reflected on their visit to the Australian National Memorial in France and others laid sprigs of wattle at the memorial as a symbol of respect for the soldiers. This traditional symbol was carried in the breast pockets of the young ANZAC’s who marched into battle, as a reminder of their Australian homeland.

These young men who left for war were the farmers who cultivated the land that Pedare now stands on, and the local surrounding area. They attended local churches, including two of the founding parishes of Pedare. The Harper brothers, after whom the Harper Sporting Field is named, feature on the display, along with a Roll of Honour of those who served from each church. The tragedy of the Harper Brothers who died a day apart in September 1914, illustrates to the students the reality of loss in such world events.
