The monument commemorates those who have served in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The monument has been redesigned, relocated and refurbished. Its new position is prominent and adds to the local heritage precinct with the heritage listed Court House, Post and Telegraph buildings adjacent to the Shire Hall.

This restoration involved shifting the plaque and flag pole as well as creating a focal cenotaph which includes new Honour Rolls on sandstone blocks either side of a focal plinth topped with a bronze sculpture of an eternal flame. The new Honour Rolls replicate the names of those on the honour boards situated in the Town Hall.

The refurbished monument was unveiled on ANZAC Day 2011.
