The gun from the ship commemorates the sailors who served in all the ships named H.M.A.S. Cessnock.
HMAS Cessnock (FCPB 210), named for the city of Cessnock, New South Wales was a Fremantle class patrol boat of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Cessnock was decommissioned on 23 June 2005. She was scrapped in Darwin during 2006, at a cost of $400,000 to the Australian government.
HMAS Cessnock (1) was one of sixty Australian Minesweepers (commonly known as corvettes) built during World War Two in Australian shipyards as part of the Commonwealth Government's wartime shipbuilding programme. Cessnock was sold on 23 April 1947 to the Nan Chiao Shipping and Salvage Co Ltd, Shanghai, for breaking up.
