ANZAC Memorial Print Page
The ANZAC Memorial commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
The 10 metre high stone and bronze memorial was unveiled in April 1996. It was designed by Western Australian sculptors Charles Smith and Joan Walsh-Smith.
On the top of the memorial is a semi-circular window through which the rising sun shines and which is inscribed with the words, ‘They only deserve freedom who are prepared to defend it’. The bronze boy on the steps of the memorial is a symbol of the innocence of children and the desire for world peace.
