The monument commemorates those from the District who served in World War One, World War Two, Korea and Vietnam.

Four ladies, Thelma Beutel, Dulcie Mason, Daisy Perkins and Coral Kelly, were the instigators of the building of the Acland war memorial slab. They took twelve months to raise the funds and trace the relatives of those to be named on it.

Names are listed of sixteen people who served in World War One.  Fifty-eight ( including four women) who served in World War Two and the British Commonwealth Occupation of Japan.  One who was killed in Korea; and six who served in Vietnam.
