Walkaway Public Hall Print Page
An addition was added to the hall in 1920 to commemorate the ending of World War One, and those who served.
A plaque was added at a later date to commemorate those who served in World War One, World War Two, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
At the end of the Great War, in 1918, the Committee of the Walkaway Hall decided to commemmorate the event by an addition to the hall, incurring a debt of over £250. The foundation stone of the new building was laid by Mrs. M. J. Logue, at which ceremony £25 was collected towards the debt. The ladies of the district most generously consented to try and work off the debt by organising a bazaar on October 29th last.
