The oval commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The Premier (Mr. Playford) opened the Tea Tree Gully War Memorial Oval and Caravan Park on Saturday.  A gala day and fete and Back to Tea Tree Gully conducted in conjunction with the ceremony brought nearly £300. Money previously raised for the caravan park had been subsidised £ for £ by the Government.

Memorial Oval

This oval, (sited on land bequeathed by William Haines), Memorial Drive and Memorial Arch, were built by the Tea Tree Gully Progress Association.

A gala opening was conducted on October 3rd, 1953.

Children from Tea Tree Gully Primary School acknowledged the endeavours of earlier Tea Tree Gully residents at their J150  Sports Day on October 17th, 1986, and honour them with this historic plaque.
