The monument commemorates those who served in World War One and World War Two.

By extending the showground reserve, the Keith War Memorial Community Centre Incorporated, which was formed at a public meeting about two years ago, has acquired 15 acres for the establishment of the centre. On this area it is proposed to provide a turf oval and grandstand, an Olympic swimming pool, eight tennis courts, a children's playground and kindergarten, a babies' health centre, six rink bowling green and croquet lawns. Provision will also be made for the district's annual show by the reservation of an area for stock, machinery and pavilion exhibits.

At the main pedestrian entrance it is proposed to erect war memorial gates and the whole area will be interspersed with gardens and surrounded by ornamental trees.
