The gardens commemorate the service of nurses during times of war in conflicts in which Australia has been involved. Lawns and seating are surrounded by roses, with a number of commemorative plaques placed around the bronze fountain honouring their contributions.

A bust of local Kapunda woman and nurse, Vivian Bullwinkle is a feature and contains a plaque listing the names of nurses who have lost their lives in conflicts since the South African (Boer) War.
