The monument commemorates those who served in World War One and World War Two.  It was originally erected to commemorate those who served in World War One with the names of those who served in World War Two added at a later date.

A deputation from the R.S.L. waited on the District Council of Elliston at its last meeting.  The delegation wished to know if the council would have the names of the 1939-45 service personnel inscribed on a block of granite to be included on the 1914-18 Memorial.  Resolved that Cr. Packer ascertain the approximate cost of this work and if this is not excessive the council will erect this Memorial.
