The memorial commemorates the service of men and women of the Shire of Corio who served in the World War Two, Malaya, Korea, Borneo and Vietnam.
The memorial, originally erected to commemorate World War Two, was relocated from its original site in St Helen`s Park and rededicated on the 11th November 1992.

The memorial was re-located to Osborne House Gardens, re-dedicated to this site and unveiled by Cr. Neville Lewis Mayor of the Shire of Corio on 11th October 1992
