The monument commemorates those from the town and district who served in World War Two, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. It was originally erected to commemorate those who served in World War Two.

The monument, which is two granite columns flanking a granite plinth on a granite base is linked by a path to the World War One memorial and was unveiled by Prime Minister Robert Menzies on the 11th November 1951.
