The monument consists of a statue of soldier with grounded rifle on polished blue-stone pillar and three tiered base set in a chained enclosure inside a wider fenced enclosure, and lists the names of the men of the Byaduk area, fourteen in World War One and two in World War Two who died in service or were killed in action.

The monument was originally unveiled to commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action World War One.
