The gates were erected by the Lambton-New Lambton Sub-Branch of the R.S.S.& A.I.L.A to commemorate those who served in World War One and World War Two. The site of the RSL was redeveloped and is now an early education centre.
The memorial gates in front of the centre were retained as they are on easement which was created with a separate title.
