The hall commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

Collingullie is at last to have a public hall. Four or five years ago the residents of Collingullle decided it was time to take decisive action. A committee was formed and a canvass of the district was made with a view to building a Soldiers' Memorial Hall as soon as practicable after the war. The financial response was spontaneous. Since then several gymkhanas and entertainments were held to raise further funds, and though the committee was ready and anxious to build, there seemed little hope of obtaining the necessary permits or the new materials. At this stage they heard of something likely to suit their requirements.

It was a hall at Koyuna, near Tullibigeal, which had been dismantled and brought to Wagga, and was for sale. They entered into negotiations, and after obtaining a permit to build, etc., they bought it. Last Saturday a working bee was called. Nine trucks and a tractor turned up and removed all the material to Collingullie in one trip. It resembled a real military convoy. Those with trucks were Messrs. C. Taber. I. G. Cameron, O. Ridley, G. E. Holmes. M. Menz, L. Manwaring, A. Bartlett, R. Bellears and S. A. Meyers. Those assisting were Messrs. C. L. Wooden, Macrae brothers (3), R. E. Cameron, M Meyers, A.Wise, R. Lashbrook and J. J. Bellears. The committee is grateful to all who helped in the enterprise; also to Mrs. D. Macrae for providing afternoon tea. Building operations will probably begin in a few weeks time.

The newly completed Collingullie Hall was filled to capacity last night, when it was officially opened by the Mayor of Wagga (Ald. L. Barrand). About 400 dancers from various parts of the district attended the opening ball, which continued until 3.a.m. The decorations were outstanding, the main feature being a ceiling of interlaced red white and blue streamers. An excellent supper was served by local a women's committee. The decision to build the hall was made at a public meeting in August, 1943, and since then residents have been busily raising funds. The hall was erected about 12 months ago by a contractor. and the job has been gradually completed by working bees of local residents. The hall has cost about £1200, and the committee expects that, with the money raised from last night's ball, there will be sufficient funds to clear the building of debt.
