The plaque commemorates 75 years of Australian Peacekeeping. 

Today is International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. Over 60,000 Australians have served worldwide in UN peacekeeping operations, helping to bring stability to conflict-affected regions. This morning the Cairns RSL Sub Branch unveiled a plaque to commemorate 75 years of Australia’s involvement in Peacekeeping and Peacemaking. Cairns RSL Sub Branch Board Director Paul Walker who served as a Peacekeeper in Bougainville and Timor unveiled the plaque.
