The monument commemorates those from Longreach and District who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. 

The monument which is located between two flagpoles features several plaques including one for the Centenary of Armistice. A Lone Pine has been planted in the vicinity and silhouette figures displaying ANZAC soldiers are also a feature of the monument. 

Funding of $8432 was received through the Armistice Centenary Grants Program. 

It was originally unveiled on the 25th April 2018 in memory of those who gave their lives with an additional plaque unveiled on the 11th November 2018 commemorating those from the District who served in the Australian Defence in all conflicts.
