The honour roll commemorates those who served in World War One and World War Two.
On Saturday night, October 4, a well attended function was held at Furracabad to welcome home two members of the armed forces, Mervyn Cattell and Peter Tompkins. Following an excellent supper served by the ladies of the Welfare Club, Mr. W. H. Wilson officially welcomed the boys back to civilian life on behalf of the residents of Furracabad. Mrs. Clarke, President of the Welfare Club, then spoke on behalf of the members and expressed their pleasure at being able once more to put on a function of this kind. The secretary, Mrs. W. Wright, then presented each of the lads with a wallet as a token of appreciation. Each of the boys made suitable response. One of the oldest and most respected residents, Mrs. E. Skinner, was then called upon to unveil the new Honor Roll, on which are inscribed the names of those who fought in both world wars.
At the conclusion of Mrs. Skinner's address, Mrs. G. Sloman read out the names on the roll, which formed a total that a community the size of Furricabad could rightly be proud of. The welcome home cake, made by Mrs. O'Halloran with her usual excellence, was then cut, and all present enjoyed a piece. This ended the official ceremonies and dancing and novelty items were enjoyed until midnight. During the evening songs and duets were rendered by Messrs. T. Wright and J. Pilling. Special thanks are also due to Mr. A. C. Clarke, who put in a great amount of work, both before and after the evening's entertainment and who also officiated most efficiently as chairman.
