The hall commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

All roads led to Eumungerie on Friday night, when the R.S.L. at that centre opened their new Memorial Hall and celebrated the occasion with their annual ball. There was an attendance of 650, and the door takings amounted to £328. The function was a great success in every way, and the R.S.L. deserves hearty congratulations on an outstanding achievement.  The new hall replaces the former structure which was destroyed by a cyclone in 1948 and £3000 to erect.  Representatives of the RSL from Dubbo, Gilgandra and Coonamble were present for the occasion.

Ald. Ford briefly reviewed the history of the Eumungerie Hall. He said the first hall was built in 1913 by six guarantors who put in £180 each. In 1936 the hall was taken over by the Eumungerie R.S.L., together with a debt of £800. This was cleared in 1946. In 1948 the hall was destroyed by a cyclone and the R.S.L. then decided to erect the present fine memorial hall, at a cost of £3000. Before declaring the hall open, two minutes silence was observed and the names of those who gave their lives for freedom were read from the beautiful marble Honor Roll.
