The pool commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The construction of the £25,000 Langlands Park swimming pool would begin in March, the Acting Lord Mayor (Ald. Bennett) said today. Ald. Bennett said a start had been made on the pool design. This work would take six weeks. "Every endeavour will be made to push the construction of the pool ahead to have it ready for next summer." Ald. Bennett said. The pool, to be built with a parkland setting, will be the first to be constructed in Brisbane for 28 years. The last was the Valley Baths, completed in 1926.
