The memorial commemorates local indigenous men who served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. 

Dozens of indigenous men and women from the Great Lakes joined up to fight in World War One, World War Two and the Vietnam War, but their sacrifice and valour has too often been ignored or forgotten in the past.
