The cenotaph commemorate those involved in World War One, World War Two and other conflicts. This cenotaph replaces the original war memorial.
After researching the names of local soldiers, the Yuleba Development Group decided to add 17 new names that had previously been forgotten.
The Yuleba Cenotaph War Memorial project was completed in time for ANZAC Day 2016. The special project was undertaken by local builder Dan Murray and features a new monument, paths, gardens and a watering system at Garth Cox Park in Yuleba. Entitled ‘Through the Cracks: Remembering Yuleba’s Lost World War One Soldiers’, the memorial reflects the names of local service men and women who served in conflicts from World War One up to the present day. The memorial’s design is one of a kind in the Maranoa, with a beautiful 3D poppy installation made from aluminium placed above the plinth and the garden includes local plants, such as bottle trees and bottle brushes. The re-production of the renowned Yuleba Hall mural is also a welcome feature.
This project was supported by the Queensland Government, and received $39,050 in funding from the Queensland ANZAC Centenary Community Grants Program.
