Wilston Methodist Memorial Church (former)Print Page
The former Wilston Methodist Memorial Church commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One and World War Two.
Methodists at Wilston have chosen a strongly contemporary design for their new church, now being built. The church, on the corner of Kedron Brook Road and Hawden Street, will have a tall, stark spire contrasting with a low-pitched roof. The building of welded steel encased in brick, with the roof acoustically ceiled and heat insulated, will be a memorial to the dead of the two World Wars. Cost will be £12,674, and contractor Mr. Brian Flynn is expected to have the job done in six months.
Courier-Mail (Brisbane), 10 November 1954.
Note: The Uniting Church closed in 2020 and the property has since been sold.
