The wooden honour roll was originally unveiled to commemorate those who served in World War Two. Names were added at a later date to commemorate those who served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

The roll was unveiled in the new memorial hall on the 26th July 1947. A dance was held on the occasion and certificates were presented to all members of the fighting forces contained on the 1939 - 1945 honour board
