The honour roll commemorates three men from the District who died in service or were killed in action in the South African (Boer) War.
A social was tendered to Mr. W. E Giles in the Institute Hall on the 12th August on the occasion also of the unveiling of the handsome brass tablet in memory of Mintaro fallen soldiers in the South African campaign. The tablet bears the following inscription and hangs in the Institute Hall.
"In memory of the Volunteers from this district who fought and fell in the South African War, 1899-1902.
Corporal Sidney Lansdell, I.B.C., Bethel, 20th May, 1901.
Trooper Oliver E. Fry, 6th W.A., Standerton, 22nd December. 1901.
Trooper A. A. Vickery, I.B.C., Kroonstadt, 18th March. 1902.
Lest we forget."
The funds for the tablet were collected by Mr. Hawkes, of Koonoona, and Messrs. F. H. Weston, G. W. Beer, and G. Montgomery, of Mintaro.
