The monument commemorates those from the District who died in service or were killed in action during the South African (Boer) War. It lists three names.
GOSFORD, Tuesday.— A very handsome marble monument, 12ft. high, has just been erected in Gosford Park to the memory of three soldiers from this district who fell during the Boer war, Trooper John Murray, of Wamberal; Corporal Harcourt Franklin Legge, of Woodport; and Trooper Sydney S. Mayor (sic), of Gosford.
