This tablet commemorates the opening of the Warrnambool Branch of the Bank of Australasia on 11th July 1854
These premises housed the Branch from 1859 until 30th September 1951 when the Bank of Australasia was merged with the Union Bank of Australia Limited to form Australia and New Zealand Bank Limited
