Inauguration of Lake Burley GriffinPrint Page 
The plaque commemorates the inauguration of Lake Burley Griffin by Prime Minister Robert Menzies in 1964.
The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies will inaugurate Lake Burley Griffin on October 17. The statement by the National Capital Development Commissioner, Mr. J. W. Overall, announcing this yesterday did not say what form the inauguration would take. Mr. Overall said detailed arrangements for the afternoon had not been worked out but it was expected that Sir Robert would perform the ceremony at 2.15 p.m. at Regatta Point on Saturday, October 17.
