A plaque commemorates schoolboy Geoffrey Ridgway who was killed at the school when he was struck by lighting in January 1936.

BOY KILLED.
Struck by Lightning.
MELBOURNE, Tuesday.
A few hours after the Lang Lang State school was reopened this morning, Geoffrey Ridgway, 8, was killed by lightning In the school grounds. He was playing with other pupils at the rear of the school building when a flash of lightning, which was accompanied by a terrific burst of thunder, struck a tree near the boys. Passing from the tree the lightning struck Ridgway, and he collapsed. Death, apparently, was Instantaneous.
