The memorial erected over the grave by the Scottish Australian Investment Company commemorates Arthur King Jones who perished in the Saltern Creek bushfire in October 1918. 

The Scottish Australian Investment Company has erected in the cemetery at Barcaldine, Queensland, a handsome monument in memory of Mr. A. K. Jones, who was burnt to death in a bushfire on Saltern Creek Station of which he was manager, in October, 1918, says the "Pastoral Review" for June.
