The plaque commemorates Charles Edginton (1894-1911).

Charles Edginton was born in 1894, son of Emma and Frederick Arthur Edginton.   His birth was recorded in Launceston, and he attended the Launceston Church Grammar School for several years.

At the age of 17 years in 1911 he died. The cause of his death was not given. The masters and pupils of the Grammar School erected a plaque of opus sectile mosaic in the chapel of St. John's Church, at which the school had worshipped for many years.
