The plaque commemorates Donald Knott (1902-1916), a former pupil of the school.

Born in 1902, Ronald was the eldest son of Robert William and Louisa Knott of 10 Claremont Street, Launceston.  Donald attended the Launceston Church Grammar School, and was a pupil at the school in 1916 when he met his untimely death.

As a token of respect and deep affection, a brass plaque was erected to his memory.
