Allan CollinsPrint Page
The plaque commemorates Allan Collins who was killed in a train accident in May 1953.
Allan Collins was born in Launceston in October 1942, one of two sons of Mrs Kathy Collins, who was the matron of the Launceston Church Grammar School for many years. Allan was a pupil at Grammar where he made good friends and loved to play football.
In May 1953 he was staying with Duncan McGeachie at St. Mary's. Apparently the two boys were playing on the railway line when a shunting train backed over him and killed him.
In the Grammar Chapel members of the Old Launcestonians Football Club placed a plaque on the end of a pew in his memory.
