The plaque commemorates Corporal N. Moran, Trooper N. Mornement,and Private R. Blackie whose lost their lives in an amphibious exercise in Stockton Bight in 1954.
At the enquiry into the death of Army personal who lost their lives in the recent swamping of Army amphibious vehicles in Stockton Bight on March 8, the Coroner (Mr. W. L. Priddle) found that the deaths were due to bad luck not carelessness. The inquiry was held at Raymond Terrace, on Tuesday last. He found that Michael Mornement, 20, of Tourle Street, Mayfield and Noel Lawrence Moran, 28, of Park Avenue, Adamstown, accidentally drowned when amphibious craft sank during the military exercise.
