Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Ken BoothPrint Page

The plaque commemorates Ken Booth (1926-1988), schoolteacher, sportsman and politician. Ken was a resident of Glendale.
On the election of Neville Wran’s government in 1976, Booth became minister for sport, recreation and tourism, although in opposition he had been shadow minister for education.
Throughout his life Booth was an enthusiastic sportsman. He played first-grade soccer in the Hunter region and in Sydney, first-grade cricket at Kurri Kurri and A-grade basketball at Newcastle, as well as Rugby League, Rugby Union, tennis and hockey. In the Newcastle district he was involved in sports administration.
