The statue commemorates Rugby League player, Ray Price.
Raymond Alan Price OAM, (born 4 March 1953 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian former dual-International (rugby union and rugby league) footballer. He was nicknamed 'Mr Perpetual Motion' for his hard, intimidating style of play in league at Loose Forward/Lock. Ray Price played for the Parramatta Eels from 1976 until 1986 and played one season for Wakefield Trinity (U.K) in 1989-1990.
