The swimming pool commemorates Olympic swimmer Robert Nay (1956 – 1992)
Robert Nay who as a 15-year-old, swam at the 1972 Munich Olympics, was killed in a car accident at Labrador, Queensland in November 1992. Robert Nay won gold at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch.
