The bust commemorates tennis player, Nancye Bolton (1916 - 2001) who won the women's singles title six times at the Australian Championships, second only to Margaret Court who won 11 titles. Bolton won 20 titles at the Australian Championships, second only to Court's 21 titles.
She was ranked in the world top ten in 1938, 1947, and 1948 reaching a career high of World No. 4 in those rankings in 1947 and 1948.
She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2006.
