Monument erected by the Wyndham Historical Society honours the pioneering contribution to the Kimberley Region by Edith Lloyd who died in 1991. Miss Lloyd bequeathed her residence in which she lived for over forty years to the Society on her death.

BORN IN FEBRUARY 1908, MISS LLOYD DEPARTED LIVERPOOL ENGLAND IN 1929 FOR AUSTRALIA SAILING VIA WHITE STAR LINER "VEDIO"
TRULY A PIONEER - MISS LLOYD WORKED MOST OF HER KIMBERLEY LIFE COOKING IN OUTBACK CAMPS AND THE OLD WYNDHAM HOSPITAL - ADJACENT
THE WYNDHAM HISTORICAL SOCIETY ACKNOWLEDGES THE PIONEERING CONTRIBUTION TO THE KIMBERLEY DISTRICT AND BEQUEATHMENT OF THIS RESIDENCE TO THE SOCIETY ON HER DEATH.
