Plaque on the Edward Henty Landing Site monument commemorates the centenary of the deaths Edward Henty and William Dutton in 1878 , two of Portland`s earliest settlers.
Note: William Dutton had visited Portland Bay several times as a sealer and whaler and built a house in Portland Bay prior to the arrival of the Edward Henty in 1834.
