The plaque was erected in memory of Alex Saar, a member of the Western Australian Naturalists Club who died in 2019. The small plaque is attached to a shelf containing Alex’s bound copies of the WA Naturalist, in the Henderson Environment Centre’s library.

Alex joined the Club’s Young Nats in the early-mid 1950s and after graduating to adult membership in 1959, remained a dedicated and active member of the Club up to the time of his death. In addition to serving on the Executive Council (1962-63), Alex acted as the Club’s Joint Librarian for three years in the early 1970s.
