The seat commemorates James Brown, who was a Vice-President of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Australia, and worked tirelessly to conserve Lord Howe Island and have it nominated for World Heritage listing.

This seat has be erected by the Wildlife Preservation Society of Australia as a memorial to James Brown. 

He was a Vice-President of the Society and in his life worked hard not only to conserve this Island but also to educate the NSW public to have it nominated for world heritage listing.  

In wildness is the preservation of the world.
