Arthur George Rix Print Page
The porch commemorates Arthur George Rix, priest and rector of the parish for twenty five years.
The death occurred yesterday of the Rev. Arthur George Rix, rector of St, John's Church of England, Birchgrove. Mr. Rix, 72, was a bachelor. He had been 25 years in the parish of St. John's of Birchgrove and Balmain. As Woolwich and Mort's Dock are in the diocese, St. John's is regarded as an unofficial Naval establishment, and Mr. Rix was often called upon to bless new ships about to be launched. Archbishop Mowll will hold a funeral service at St. John's at 1.30 p.m. tomorrow. The cortege will leave the church at 2 p.m. for St. John's Cemetery, where Mr. Rix will be buried in the family grave.
