The marble plaque commemorates Charles Green who was the founder of the Primitive Methodist Church in Mackay. The date on the tablet is recorded as the 17th August 1899 but the tablet was unveiled on the 20th August.
MACKAY, August 20. A tablet to the memory of the late Charles Green, who died last August, the founder of the Primitive Methodist Church here, was unveiled tonight in the presence of a crowded congregation. An appropriate and impressive service was delivered by the Rev. Mr. Larkin.
