Reverend Robert ThwaitesPrint Page
The marble plaque commemorates Reverend Robert Thwaites who was the Vicar of St Arnaud from January 1896 to January 1904.
The Rev. R. Thwaites, vicar of the Church of England at St. Arnaud, died yesterday afternoon of typhoid fever. He took ill about three weeks ago, and had been confined to bed for a fortnight. He had resided at St. Arnaud for eight years, and was previously at Horsham. Profound regret, our correspondent at St. Arnnud telegraphs, is felt at his unexpected demise. The reverend gentleman was 51 years of age. He had held the office of chaplain-major in the military forces. He leaves a widow and a family of seven. The eldest son is in New Zealand.
Age (Melbourne), 14 January 1904.
