The Stations of the Cross mosaics commemorate Father William Michael Henschke and were unveiled on the golden jubilee of his priesthood in 1964.
Father Henschke was born in South Australia in 1889, and was ordained in St. Mary`s Cathedral, Sydney, in 1914, and came to the Northern Territory in 1915. He was attached to the Cathedral Parish of Darwin continuously from 1922 until shortly before his death on 9th November, 1972.

Father Henschke, born at Hookina, South Australia, in 1889, was ordained in St. Mary`s Cathedral, Sydney, in 1914, and came to the Northern Territory in 1915.
He was attached to the Cathedral Parish of Darwin continuously from 1922 until shortly before his death on 9th November, 1972.
These Stations, designed by Miss Lola McCausland of Brisbane, were executed at Spilimbergo Italy in Venetian mosaic.
The figure at the right of the Fourteenth Station portrays the likeness of Father Henschke.
This Way of the Cross serves as a lasting tribute to a zealous and revered Priest.
