The plaque commemorates William Pope who was a warden of the Cathedral from 1879 to 1923. William Pope made generous bequests to the church in his will. 

Adelaide, August 28.
The death of Mr. William Pope, North Adelaide, occurred on Monday, his 77th birthday. He was born in Somerset, England. He came to Australia when a boy and for a while was engaged in farming. He soon turned his attention to law, and was called to the Bar in 1877. He was senior warden at St Peter's Cathedral, and Lay Secretary of the Synod.
