The fence at St Marks commemorates the Very Reverend John O`Mahony who died in 1922. 

Father John O'Mahony died when he was 52 years of age.  He was born in Adelaide, and was educated at the Christian Brothers College and later to the Manly College in Sydney.  He went to to Italy, and he completed his studies in Rome, where he was ordained.

On his return to South Australia he was stationed at Port Augusta, as assistant to Father Doyle, and seven months later he became parish priest.  After eight years at Port Augusta, he was transfered to Port Pirie in 1904, where he was a priest until his death in 1922.
