The chancel in the church commemorates Canon William Buckton Andrews (1829-1918) who served for twenty five years in the parish.

The foundation stone for the chancel was laid by Mr. G. W. Hawkes Esq. on 16th March 1901 and the chancel was opened and dedicated on the 30th November 1901.
